About this tool

What this tool does

Converts a text PDF into an editable .docx file. Best suited for PDFs with normal flowing text — for scanned documents (pure images with no text layer), use our OCR tool first to create a text layer.

How it works

Upload the PDF, conversion runs server-side, download the .docx file and open it in Word or LibreOffice.

Privacy

This operation requires brief server-side processing. Your file is used only for this task and automatically deleted afterward.

Limitations

Exactly 1 PDF per operation. Each line of text becomes its own positioned text block — the content is fully preserved and editable, but does not reflow automatically the way natively typed text does. Complex layouts (multi-column, tables) may not keep their exact structure.

FAQ

Yes. The conversion runs server-side — your PDF is briefly transferred for processing and automatically deleted afterward, not stored permanently.

Only to a limited extent. This tool expects a real text layer. For scanned documents (pure images), use our OCR tool first to create a text layer.

The text content is fully preserved and directly editable in Word/LibreOffice. Each line becomes its own text block — the result doesn't reflow quite as seamlessly when editing as natively typed text.
